About Me

Hello!  My name is Steven Jenkins. I teach Resource S and Co-Teach 4th and 5th Grade ELA. This is my second year at Tara Oaks.

 

Overall, I have 8 years of teaching experience. From 2015-2019, I lived and taught overseas in the country of the United Arab Emirates, in the city of Abu Dhabi. I taught English, Math and Science for grades 1-4. From 2012-2015, I taught in the Memphis City School system. 

 

Prior to teaching, I worked as a mental health counselor for about 20 years. Most of that work was with children and families. My counseling experience focused on treating children and families experiencing ADHD, depression, anxiety and behavioral issues. 

 

I earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Mississippi (1988), and a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Memphis (1990).

 

My hobbies include running and competing in marathons and half-marathons, reading, and playing the piano by ear.
